The Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI) was organized as a socio-civic, non-profit organization whose members are composed of Chinese Filipino businessperson from the different sector of the industry and from all over the archipelago. The primary goal of CFBCI’s is to support the government in its goal of creating an environment conducive to job creation and economic advancement. CFBCI from its inception in 1998 had come a long way. Through the support of its officers and members, The Club was able to purchase a two-floor facility to become its permanent headquarters. This facility had provided a venue for the officers and members of CFBCI to come together for discussion, exchange of ideas, organized seminars and provide support for the various programs and projects of the organization. The end result benefits not only the Chinese business community but also the communities they are in.
From its inception, we never insinuate that we are leaders in the Chinese community but rather, we like to be regarded as a guardian to its CULTURE and IDEALS. CFBCI truly belongs to the Chinese community for it serves as a platform and venue for the Chinese-Filipino businessperson to voice their opinions on issues and matters that might affect its interest and that of the Chinese community as a whole.
During CFBCI’s fifth National Convention, one important matter taken up was for the need to re-organize, to make the officers and members of CFBCI to be more active. Thus, the following committees were formed for them to participate, EXTERNAL AFFAIR, TRADE AND COMMERCE, ORGANIZATION, ADVOCACY, YOUTH, WELFARE, FINANCE, ASSETS, PUBLIC INFORMATION and EDUCATION. In all, ten committees were established, plus one SPECIAL PROJECT COMMITTEE. Thru these committees, no work or roles is too small or too big to be undertaken. Every project is divided equally among officers and members and the support of everyone is vital to the success of each committee’s endeavors.
Also taken up during the convention, CFBCI will take an active role and advocate the following issues:
- To study the proposed changes to the By-Laws of the Club to reflect the needs of the changing time, and to be more responsive.
- Advocating for the adoption of principle of Jus Soli in the Philippines, wherein, the legal principle of JUS SOLI (determination by place of birth) to be used as basis for Philippine Citizenship rather than the present JUS SANGUINES (determination by blood).
- Support the plan of Ways and Means Committee of Congress to amends the existing Tax Rates imposed on individual income tax, which will greatly benefit the workforce of the country.
- To render support to the various plans and projects of the local government that would benefit Chinese businesses and the Chinese communities as a whole.
- To create a comprehensive DATA Bank of CFBCI members so that proper information is created for better utilization by its members.
- The planned creation of a NEWSLETTER for a wider dissemination of information to CFBCI members and non-members alike.
- To encourage all committee members to have at least a meeting every month in order to formulate and discuss viable projects or programs for the committee to work on.
- To organize seminars so that businesses would learn more ideas, knowledge and skills.
We sincerely believed that with the fervent support of the officers and members, CFBCI would continue to grow and rises to new heights. I fervently call on everyone to set aside personal politics and interest and request everyone to work hand in hand for the improvement and future success of the organization.
